Kristine wanted to teach her daughter, Alice, the importance of giving back to their community. Seeking out an opportunity to serve a local school, Kristine contacted Communities In Schools and offered to help stuff backpacks for a school supply drive. Together, the mother and daughter team sorted over 30 boxes of donated supplies and delivered 700 school supply backpacks to area schools. “I like volunteering because I like to help other kids,” says Alice. “It makes me realize that no one is too young to make a difference.”

Communities In Schools understands that schools can't do it alone. Our school-based coordinators work directly with challenged students and connect them with mentors and tutors, social services, healthcare, nutrition and other services. In the schools we serve our help results in higher graduation rates and increased proficiency in math and reading. This PSA was made possible by the generous support of Comcast Cable and was created and produced by Mark Notermann. Tremendous thanks for helping Communities In Schools address the dropout rate one child at a time!
