My name is Michelle Cordero Renteria, and I am the new Communities in Schools site coordinator for Rogers High School. I am originally from Puerto Rico but lived in San Antonio Texas for 24 years before moving to Washington. I earned my bachelor’s degree in 2005 in Education with a concentration on Interdisciplinary studies and was a bilingual and special education teacher for 12 years. I then earned my master’s in education with a concentration in school counseling in 2019. I was an elementary school counselor for 5 years and a Student Well Being counselor for 2 years at a middle school before moving to Washington.
In my free time I like to read, color and go for walks. I also love to spend time with my family which consists of my husband, my four kids ages 20, 18, 14 and 11 and our two dogs Peppermint and Ollie and our cat Chanis.
I am very passionate about supporting students and their families. I believe that helping provide resources for families helps to provide the support students need to be successful. I also believe that it is important to provide a safe and welcoming environment where students can feel like they belong.
